O Cebreiro: top attractions & road trip guide

O Cebreiro is a tiny mountain hamlet on the border of León and Galicia, famous on the Camino Francés as the first Galician village pilgrims reach after a steep climb, and for its cluster of ancient thatched-roof stone huts called pallozas. Its 9th-century church is linked to a eucharistic miracle still commemorated today.
Perched at over 1,300 meters in the O Courel mountains, the village is reached by a winding mountain road that offers sweeping views over the Galician and León valleys, making it a scenic but slower stretch of any road trip through the region.
