Vienna is Austria's capital and its cultural heart, a city built around Habsburg palaces, grand boulevards, and a musical legacy that includes Mozart, Beethoven, and Strauss. Its historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, blends Baroque architecture with coffeehouse culture, opera houses, and world-class museums along the Ringstrasse.

On a road trip, Vienna sits in Austria's northeast on the Danube, making it a natural gateway between Central Europe and the Alps. The city itself is best explored on foot or by tram, so most visitors park on the outskirts or use a hotel garage and set the car aside for a day or two before continuing toward Salzburg or the Wachau Valley.
